Los Angeles, Dec 16 (NationPress) Hollywood icon Hugh Jackman once enjoyed a memorable sleepover at the residence of renowned singer-songwriter Neil Diamond, and the intriguing details have now emerged.
The actor revealed that he not only participated in karaoke with Diamond but also spent the night at the legendary artist's home. This remarkable event was initiated by an emotional phone call, as reported by 'People' magazine.
The celebrated singer, aged 84, graciously welcomed the 57-year-old actor, who portrays Mike Sardina—one half of the Diamond tribute band 'Lightning & Thunder' in his upcoming movie 'Song Sung Blue'—into his Colorado residence after expressing his emotional reaction to the film. During a screening in New York City, Jackman disclosed how this extraordinary sleepover came to fruition.
According to 'People', both Jackman and his Song Sung Blue co-star Kate Hudson, who plays Mike's wife and bandmate, Claire, reminisced about their encounter with Diamond during a Q&A session at the 92nd Street Y event. When asked if they had the opportunity to meet Diamond, whose music is integral to the film and its true story, Hudson, aged 46, noted that while she met the singer first, Jackman secured the karaoke night and “sleepover”.
“I grew up in Colorado,” Hudson shared with the audience at the N.Y.C. event. “Neil is in Colorado, and we lived just 10 minutes apart. I never met him, never saw him. It was so strange. I heard he had seen the movie and was very emotional about it. So, I contacted (Focus Features) and asked if they could arrange a visit.”
Hudson and Diamond exchanged “all kinds of stories”, she recounted while sharing snapshots of their October meetup.
“They invited me over, and I sat on the porch enjoying lemonade. I then took a picture and sent it to Hugh, and he said, ‘I think I'm going to Colorado’,” she added.
