New Delhi, Oct 30 (NationPress) Actress Huma Qureshi, reprising her role as Rani Bharti in the much-anticipated fourth season of the celebrated political drama Maharani, stated that while the series is inspired by political elements, it remains a fictional realm deeply rooted in human emotions.

When inquired whether Rani Bharti's ethical outlook has evolved over the seasons and how she navigates the balance between idealism and political reality, Huma responded to IANS: “The series can be described as a political fantasy. We take inspiration from real life, weave a different narrative, and dedicate significant effort to crafting that world. It’s entirely a work of fiction, but I believe such individuals exist in reality as well. Nevertheless, our focus hasn't been on that.”

Reflecting on her evolution with the character, she added, “I’ve famously mentioned that apart from my Nanihaal, the location where I’ve spent the most time is on the sets of Maharani in Bhopal…for Rani Bharti, for that universe… and I aspire for this to continue for many more years.”

The new season introduces two fresh faces: Rajeshwari Sachdev and Darsheel Safary.

Directed by Puneet Prakash, produced by Kangra Talkies Pvt. Ltd., and created by Subhash Kapoor, Maharani 4 features a talented ensemble including Huma Qureshi, Shweta Basu Prasad, Vipin Sharma, Amit Sial, Vineet Kumar, Shardul Bhardwaj, Kani Kusruti, and Pramod Pathak.

The previous installments of the series depicted Huma Qureshi’s journey from an unlikely political novice to a cunning leader navigating the treacherous corridors of power in Bihar. The upcoming season is set to maintain its blend of political authenticity and engaging drama.

The inaugural season of the political series draws inspiration from real events in Bihar during the 1990s, notably when Lalu Prasad Yadav appointed his homemaker wife Rabri Devi as his successor. The narrative of season 1 spans from 1995 to 1999, influenced by actual events and figures such as Ranvir Sena, leftist militants, Naxalite groups, the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation, the 1997 Laxmanpur Bathe massacre, and the Fodder Scam.

The plot of season 2 is set from mid-1999, inspired by real-life incidents and characters including Shilpi-Gautam Murder, Sadhu Yadav, Rajiv Goswami, Shibu Soren, Mohammad Shahabuddin, Prashant Kishor, the Indian Political Action Committee, and the 2000 Bihar Legislative Assembly election.

The third season also drew upon various real-life occurrences, including the Jitan Manjhi episode.

Maharani 4 is set to premiere on November 7 on Sony LIV.
