Ira Khan Discusses Her Evolving Relationship With Her Parents

Mumbai, Jan 13 (NationPress) Ira Khan, daughter of Aamir Khan, has been quite open regarding her mental health challenges. In a recent discussion with actress Ahsaas Channa, Ira revealed the transformation in her relationship with her parents over time.

To refresh your memory, Ira Khan has described her relationship with her parents as incredibly intense and complex. When asked about this, she remarked that one tends to care deeply about their parents' opinions, making their words profoundly impactful.

Ira Khan stated, 'During my depression, I discovered many lessons that I wish had been imparted to me earlier. For years, we've been conditioned to believe that marriage requires compromise and effort. The same principle applies to your relationship with your parents. Like any relationship, it requires work. No one explicitly tells you that you need to cultivate a relationship with your parents. As a child, you eventually grow into an adult, where the expectation is to view your parents as individuals rather than just parents. However, this transition often doesn't occur, which leads to the assumption that they are infallible, and they inadvertently continue to treat you as a child. It's a very intricate situation.'

Ira Khan believes that children should perceive their parents not solely as parental figures but as individuals too. She elaborated, 'I came to this realization when my therapist asked, what do your parents enjoy? I had to admit, I don't truly know them beyond their roles as my parents. How can I foster a relationship with someone if I don't recognize them as individuals? It's quite strange and fascinating to explore your parents as people.'
