Chennai, Sep 15 (NationPress) Actor Tharshan, whose new film 'GodsJilla' commenced production on Monday coinciding with his birthday, expressed that he has long aspired to participate in a light-hearted rom-com, and this forthcoming film embodies that dream.
In an exclusive conversation with IANS, shortly after the traditional pooja that signified the film's launch, Tharshan remarked, "Following the overwhelmingly positive feedback for my recent release 'Surrender', I have been offered a slew of action-driven roles, predominantly as police officers, similar to my character in 'Surrender'. Yet, I yearned to diversify my portfolio and opted for a rom-com, as I've had a desire to explore this genre for a while. 'GodsJilla' is a fantasy rom-com that presents a unique challenge. It's been a while since a film depicting divine figures, akin to Arai En 305il Kadavul, graced the screens, which encouraged me to accept this role.
The film features the acclaimed director Gautham Vasudev Menon alongside Tharshan in the leading role, with Alisha Mirani playing the female protagonist.
Directed by Mohan Guruselva, this contemporary fantasy rom-com 'GodsJilla' is produced by Zinema Media and Entertainment Ltd in collaboration with Creative Entertainers and Distributors and PGS Productions.
The movie aims to offer a well-rounded entertainment experience that fuses mythology, fantasy, humor, and tender romance. At its heart lies the narrative of a heartbroken young man whose disenchantment with love triggers a celestial intervention, leading him on a journey of self-discovery, redemption, and newfound love.
In addition to Gautham Vasudev Menon, Tharshan, and Alisha Mirani, the film's ensemble cast will include notable names such as Robo Shankar, KPY Vinoth, and Black Pandi.
On the technical side, the film boasts cinematography by Shivraj and editing by Aravindh B. Ananth. The musical score is crafted by Karthik Harsha, while art direction is managed by Sourabh Kesav.
Renowned for his innovative storytelling, director Mohan Guruselva pledges to deliver a film that is both engaging and emotionally impactful.
With its blend of fantastical celestial backdrops and vibrant earthly visuals, enhanced by evocative music and clever philosophical humor, 'GodsJilla' aims to resonate with today’s youth while also being a family-friendly entertainer.
The auspicious pooja marks the commencement of principal photography. Audiences can anticipate 'GodsJilla' as a refreshing cinematic experience that harmonizes myth, magic, and contemporary romance.
