Chennai, Sep 15 (NationPress) Renowned Indian actor Dhanush has recently shared the inspiration behind the title of his much-anticipated film, 'Idli Kadai.'
During the film's audio launch at Nehru Indoor Stadium, Dhanush remarked, "Typically, films are named after their main characters. However, in this instance, the idli shop serves as the central character, which is why we chose the title Idli Kadai."
Dhanush elaborated on how the idea for the film arose. He recounted, "I was abroad for a meeting with Shreyas and Ashwath. Afterward, they went out while I returned to my hotel room. Alone, I often find solace in Ilaiyaraaja's songs. While listening to 'Naan erikaarai...', I was transported back in time, stirring old memories."
"This particular song took me back to when my mother would take me to her native village during my summer breaks at the age of eight. We would spend two to two-and-a-half months there, and that song brought back memories of my grandmother's home," he shared.
He continued, "The village was small, with only two buses operating. Nevertheless, there was one shop—the idli shop—that I longed to visit."
Dhanush recalled how he and his sisters toiled in the fields, picking flowers to earn just enough to savor the idlis from that shop. He emphasized that not even the finest, most expensive restaurants he visited later in life could match the happiness, tranquility, and satisfaction he felt while eating idlis from that humble shop.
For those unaware, Dawn Pictures initially announced that the film would be released globally on April 10 of this year, but the date has since been moved to October 1.
