Chennai, Sep 15 (NationPress) One of India's most celebrated actors, Dhanush, recently shared a touching story about how he and his siblings used to gather flowers from the fields as children to earn money for idlis.
During the audio launch event of his film at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in the city, Dhanush explained the inspiration behind the movie centered around the 'Idli Kadai' (Idli shop).
Dhanush recounted, "I had traveled abroad with Shreyas and Ashwath for a meeting. Afterward, while they explored the city, I returned to my hotel room. Alone, I found comfort in listening to Ilaiyaraaja's music. The song 'Naan erikaarai...' took me back in time, stirring memories from my childhood."
He continued, "The song reminded me of my summer vacations at my mother's native village when I was eight years old. We would spend two to two-and-a-half months there, and this song brought back memories of my grandmother's home in that village."
"It was a quaint village with only two buses and a single idli shop that I longed to eat at, but I lacked the money," he recalled.
Dhanush then elaborated on how he and his siblings managed to earn some cash. "In our village, we could pluck flowers from the fields and get paid based on the quantity we collected. My sisters, cousins, and I would wake up at four in the morning and spend about two-and-a-half hours in the fields. If we worked diligently, we would earn around Rs Two or Two-and-a-half Rupees each. Afterward, we would bathe in a nearby water tank, dry off, and finally treat ourselves to four or five idlis at the shop. Although I have dined at fancy restaurants today, nothing compares to the joy and taste of those idlis, purchased with hard-earned money," he shared.
For those interested, Dawn Pictures, one of the production houses behind the film, initially planned for a release on April 10, which has now been rescheduled to October 1.
Reports suggest that Arun Vijay will portray the antagonist, and fans can anticipate an exciting confrontation between him and Dhanush in the film.
Shalini Pandey is also confirmed for a significant role in the movie, as speculated by various media outlets.
‘Idly Kadai’, featuring Dhanush and Nithya Menon in lead roles, is directed by Dhanush himself. The film is produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films and Dawn Pictures, with Kiran Koushik handling cinematography and G V Prakash composing the music.
