Mumbai, Oct 1 (NationPress) On the occasion of S. D. Burman’s 119th birth anniversary this Wednesday, actor Jackie Shroff took a moment to pay tribute to the legendary figure.

“Remembering S D Burman ji on his Birth Anniversary,” Jackie penned in his post.
Burman embarked on his career in Bengali cinema in 1937, later transitioning to Hindi films and establishing himself as one of the most prominent and influential music composers in Indian cinema. He crafted the soundtracks for over 100 films across both Bengali and Hindi cinema.
In addition to his prowess as a composer, he lent his voice to folk music from East Bengal and light semi-classical styles. His songs were performed by many of the era's leading vocalists, including Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, Geeta Dutt, Manna Dey, Hemant Kumar, Asha Bhosle, Shamshad Begum, Mukesh, and Talat Mahmood.
Unfortunately, S. D. Burman fell into a coma shortly after rehearsing the song “Badi Sooni Sooni Hai” for the film Mili. He passed away on October 31, 1975, in Mumbai after a prolonged period in a coma.
