Jyothirmayi Believes OTT Platforms Expand Content Accessibility

Mumbai, Dec 12 (NationPress) Actress Jyothirmayi, whose psychological thriller film ‘Bougainvillea’, is set to premiere on OTT, has articulated her insights on the extensive outreach of this platform.
‘Bougainvillea’ draws inspiration from Lajo Jose’s novel ‘Ruthinte Lokam’, encapsulating the tale of a family entangled in a police inquiry regarding the odd disappearance of tourists in Kerala.
Reflecting on the film, Jyothirmayi remarked, "After an extended hiatus, returning with ‘Bougainvillea’ feels incredibly special, as this project holds a significant place in my heart. Reethu's character posed challenges I hadn’t anticipated, and I’m immensely thankful for the opportunity to collaborate with exceptional talents, including Kunchacko Boban and Fahadh Faasil."
She further added, "The film's theatrical success was profoundly fulfilling, and with its debut on Sony LIV, I’m eager to witness its reach to a wider audience. The allure of OTT is its capacity to allow viewers from various backgrounds to engage with the film, and I aspire for Bougainvillea to resonate with audiences and forge lasting connections."
The film is helmed by Amal Neerad and co-written with Lajo Jose, merging masterful storytelling with cinematic excellence.
On delving into a new genre with this film, acclaimed director Amal Neerad expressed, "‘Bougainvillea’ has been an exceptionally meaningful project for me, granting me the chance to explore an uncharted genre. Constructing this narrative required the ideal cast, and I’m sincerely appreciative of the talented ensemble who infused their characters with such depth and authenticity. The positive reception in theaters was uplifting, and I’m excited to now present the film to an even broader audience on Sony LIV."
"This transcends a mere psychological thriller or survival narrative—it’s a portrayal of how a woman navigates her psyche and circumstances to conquer challenges. I hope viewers connect with its emotional essence and discover something personal in the journey while watching it on the platform," he added.
Jointly produced by Amal Neerad Productions and Udaya Pictures, the film will be available on December 13 on Sony LIV.
