The Nationwide Screening Campaign

Prior to its release, Ranaut and the film's cast and crew have been travelling across India to honour what they describe as the country's unsung heroes — citizens who step up during moments of national crisis. The campaign had previously visited Bhubaneswar and Raipur before arriving in the capital.

What Kangana Said

Addressing the gathering, Ranaut said, 'On behalf of all the crew and cast members of our film, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our Hon'ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, who deserves all the praises showered upon her. The whole nation knows how Rekha ji has taken care of the governance in Delhi so far. There has been a complete transformation of Delhi under her leadership. She managed to curb the environmental and air quality issues in Delhi with her effective measures. Not much is written about these good things, but the negative stories keep appearing.'

Ranaut added, 'Her efforts are not appreciated enough. When I called to invite her for this screening, she immediately said a yes, and I will always be indebted to her.'

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta's Response

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta praised Ranaut's dual role as a parliamentarian and filmmaker. 'Kangana Ranaut is a strong voice in the Parliament, who keeps fighting for the betterment of cinema and the people of India. She doesn't just voice her opinions out in the Parliament, but also on screen,' Gupta said.

Reflecting on the film's theme, Gupta noted, 'The film states that dedication, service and patriotism is not just limited to the ones in uniforms. It is something that all the citizens of our country have within themselves. And when it matters the most, every Indian steps up to help the country. The real Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata are the citizens of our country.'

Point of View

Delivered from a film stage, blurs the line between cultural promotion and political messaging in ways that are becoming characteristic of her public persona. Whether the film's civilian-patriotism theme resonates at the box office on 12 June will be a separate test altogether.
