Mumbai, Nov 10 (NationPress) Filmmaker Karan Johar expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Martin Scorsese for hosting a unique screening of his film "Homebound" in New York.
The event featured the film's stars, Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa, who portray best friends Shoaib and Chandan in this drama inspired by Basharat Peer’s 2020 New York Times article, which explores the challenges faced by friends during the lockdown.
KJo shared a touching message on his official Instagram, stating, "Taking our story of #Homebound across the continents and seas has been the most surreal journey…and this is another chapter of it! Our NYC screening hosted by our executive producer @martinscorsese_ was a night filled with friends and more supporting with their full heart. Thank you!!! (sic)."
He added, "This means everything to us, showing up and giving us your love. I am bummed to be missing out but I feel absolutely whole knowing that our film is getting everything it needs…(red heart emoji)."
Karan's post also featured a few memorable photos from the evening.
Before this, director Neeraj Ghaywan took to his X (formerly Twitter) account, describing this moment as “the highest point” of his cinematic career.
Neeraj wrote, "Sitting across from him is the highest point in my career in cinema. Mr. Martin Scorsese, the EP on #Homebound hosted a screening and did a Q&A with me in NYC! (sic)"
He shared how Scorsese helped him manage his nerves prior to their discussion.
"I was obviously nervous and sweating about doing a Q&A with the master. Mr. Scorsese noticed my anxiety in the green room. He recounted a humorous story about being mistaken by the police for the hillside strangler. He did that to help calm me down without me even realizing it. That’s the generous, selfless master that he is. I don’t know what the future holds for this film, but this moment is the biggest award for me. Thank you to everyone who came and supported us for our Oscar campaign. I was especially thrilled to see Mira Nair at our screening," he concluded.
