Mumbai, Sep 9 (NationPress) Television actress Kaveri Priyam, known for her role as Sonia in the series “Dooriyan”, shared that her fascination with the character stemmed from her intricate nature.
The character Sonia is a woman who holds power in her professional sphere but encounters emotional challenges in her personal life.
"What immediately attracted me to Sonia was her complexity; she embodies both strength and vulnerability simultaneously," Kaveri remarked.
She elaborated: "In her professional realm, she is ambitious, self-assured, and commands respect, yet in her personal life, she grapples with fragility, insecurity, and profound emotions. This duality intrigued me greatly."
Kaveri disclosed that her preparation for the role involved studying real-life women who successfully juggle resilience in their careers while maintaining tenderness at home.
"The challenge was to find a balance between her ‘boss-woman’ persona and her inner vulnerability," she stated.
The actress dedicated herself to refining everything from Sonia’s body language to her dialogue delivery to ensure authenticity in her portrayal.
However, Sonia's character is not solely defined by ambition and authority; her romantic journey leads her into morally ambiguous situations.
Kaveri explained: "She develops feelings for someone who is already in a relationship, and navigating that conflict between desire, morality, and reality is what captivated me. Even after marriage, love does not unfold as she envisioned."
Kaveri, who has appeared in series like Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke and Ziddi Dil Maane Na, consciously seeks to avoid typecasting.
"Sonia allowed me to portray ambition, obsession, vulnerability, and heartbreak all within a single role. I am eager to explore layered, flawed, and deeply human characters that challenge me, whether on television, OTT platforms, or in films," she added.
Priyam made her television debut in Naagin 2 as Bee. She later featured in Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil and Savdhaan India. She stepped into films with Tishnagi.
Priyam joined Rajan Shahi's Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke as Kuhu Maheshwari Rajvansh, opposite Ritvik Arora and Avinash Mishra, which marked her turning point. She portrayed Amrita Brar Dungarpal in Dil Diyaan Gallaan alongside Paras Arora.
