Los Angeles, June 27 (NationPress) Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey has discussed the ramifications of his controversies on his professional life. The two-time Academy Award recipient, aged 65, participated in an onstage interview at the Italian Global Series Festival (IGSF) in Rimini, Italy.
Spacey expressed his enthusiasm for returning to work in a significant capacity, as reported by People magazine.
According to Deadline, he also shared insights on how his previous legal challenges have influenced his career trajectory.
In 2017, Spacey was dismissed from the Netflix series House of Cards following allegations of sexual misconduct, which he has consistently denied.
As noted by People, he was exonerated of sexual abuse accusations in 2022 in New York, as well as claims of sexual assault in a 2023 case in London.
“These experiences have enabled me to pause, evaluate, reassess, and be profoundly grateful for the work I can undertake both on-screen and off-screen,” Spacey shared with IGSF Artistic Director Marco Spagnoli during the discussion.
He also acknowledged the backing he has received throughout his legal challenges, stating, “I’m filled with gratitude for those in my industry who stood by me, those individuals who were willing to wait for a court outcome before forming their opinions about me.”
Spacey remarked, “Those individuals have my trust, and I will do everything possible to uphold their trust for the remainder of my life.”
Numerous Hollywood figures, including Sharon Stone, Liam Neeson, and Brian Cox, have voiced their support for Spacey’s return to the film industry.
Moreover, Spacey took the opportunity to address those in Hollywood “who hastily judged me and deemed me guilty, treating me accordingly.”
“They have my forgiveness, but I am not actively seeking collaboration with them,” he concluded.
