The 'Partner' actress delighted her followers on Instagram with a collection of cherished photos of her parents throughout the years, writing an emotional tribute: “My Dad and mum were together for 57 years….. They first crossed paths when he was a young officer on a temporary assignment at the Tambaram Airforce base in Chennai (formerly Madras). Mum was employed at a gallery, and dad was tasked with delivering a parcel to her on behalf of mutual acquaintances…..(sic).”
Lara recounted that after a six-month courtship, her parents tied the knot initially in a Christian ceremony in Madras, followed by a Hindu wedding in Jalandhar.
The former Miss Universe also emphasized her mother’s unwavering support for her father, stating: “When dad was deployed to war, mum managed the household… when he faced his first heart attack, she commuted daily for a month from Hindon Airforce base to the Army hospital in Delhi, just to be by his side. After his retirement from the airforce at the young age of 41, when he struggled to regain stability, she took up a job, and her modest earnings supported our family of five…….”
Lara further elaborated on her mother’s battle with dementia and Alzheimer’s, sharing: “At 70, mum began to repeat herself, asking the same questions every ten minutes… as time passed, dementia and Alzheimer’s progressed… there were instances when she would look at us, recognizing familiarity but unable to identify who we were… yet ‘Lalit’ was always remembered… her unwavering anchor. Her gaze followed him wherever he went. Everything was right in her world as long as ‘Lalit’ was by her side.”
She noted that until his final moments, her father was concerned about his wife’s well-being.
Lara expressed, “Until the day my dad passed away, his primary worry was about what would happen to Jenny… even in his last days, in pain and delirium, he requested to be placed in his wheelchair so he could sit next to his ‘Jenny’.”
“My mother frequently asks – ‘where’s daddy?’…… longing for her Lalit to once again be beside her in his favorite chair…,” she concluded her touching post.
