Chennai, Dec 31 (NationPress) Expressing his sorrow over the loss of a cherished individual, Malayalam film legend Mammootty reached out to his close friend and fellow icon Mohanlal, whose mother, Shantakumari Amma, passed away on Tuesday.

Mammootty shared on his X account, "My heart feels heavy as we mourn the loss of someone who meant so much to all of us. Stay strong, dear Lal."

Since the news of Shantakumari Amma's passing emerged, condolences have flooded in from various sectors, including the film industry and political circles.

Prominent figures such as Tamil actor Kamal Haasan, Telugu star Chiranjeevi, and Kannada actor Shivaraj Kumar have expressed their sympathies regarding Mohanlal's loss.

Kamal Haasan stated in his message, "Brother @MohanLal, only you can console yourself. Friends will stand by you as always. No amount of comforting can compensate for a loss like this. Take care; we all love you."

Shivaraj Kumar remarked, "I am very sorry for your loss @Mohanlal sir. Nothing I say will ever ease the pain of losing a mother. I’m sure she had a blessed life and will continue being your guiding star from above. You and your family will always be in my prayers."

Six-time National Award-winning singer K S Chithra also paid tribute to Mohanlal's mother. On her social media, she shared, "We lost a loving, genuine, and blessed soul today on Vaikunta Ekadasi. She was a very affectionate mother. I could feel her warmth when I visited her a few years ago. Deeply saddened by this great loss. May her soul rest in peace, and may God give strength to the family. Pranams."

For those unaware, Shantakumari Amma died at the age of 90 after being bedridden for a decade due to age-related health issues.

This loss is profoundly personal for Mohanlal, who shared a uniquely close relationship with his mother.

Despite his busy career and frequent travels, the actor consistently prioritized being with her to ensure her well-being.

At the time of her death, he and his family were in Kochi.
