Mumbai, Feb 6 (NationPress) The producers of the film ‘Mardaani 3’, featuring Rani Mukerji, have refuted allegations regarding a paid public relations initiative that supposedly exploited reports of missing individuals in the capital city.
On Friday, the Delhi Police announced via their social media account, “Upon investigating certain leads, we found that the attention surrounding the increase in missing girls in Delhi is being promoted through financial incentives. Instigating fear for profit will not be tolerated, and we will pursue stringent actions against those involved.”
Addressing these claims, a YRF representative stated in response to an inquiry by IANS, “Yash Raj Films is a five-decade-old organization built on the foundations of high ethical standards and transparency. We categorically reject the allegations circulating on social media suggesting that the promotional efforts for Mardaani 3 have intentionally sensationalized such a critical issue, and we have great confidence in our authorities to disclose all relevant facts and truths in due time.”
Previously, reports indicated that the Delhi Police documented 807 individuals reported missing this year, averaging around 54 cases daily, which included 509 women and girls along with 298 men; 191 of those were minors and 616 were adults. The police managed to locate 235 individuals, while 572 cases remained unresolved during this timeframe.
In 2025, over 24,500 people were reported missing, with women constituting over 60% of these cases, and more than 9,000 cases remained unsolved by the year's end.
Despite public apprehension regarding these statistics, the Delhi Police clarified that there has been no substantial increase in cases for 2026 compared to previous years' monthly averages (approximately 2,000 per month) and that the overall trend has remained fairly stable.
