Rani Mukerji Reveals ‘Mardaani 3’ is ‘Dark and Brutal’, Scheduled for 2026 Release

Mumbai, Dec 13 (NationPress) Marking the second anniversary of Mardaani 2, Rani Mukerji together with Yash Raj Films has made a formal announcement regarding the production of the third installment in the series, wherein the actress will reprise her role as the audacious cop Shivani Shivaji Roy.
Rani expressed her excitement, stating, “I’m thrilled to announce that we are starting shooting of Mardaani 3 in April 2025!”
She emphasized that donning the police uniform and embodying a character that has continually showered her with affection is always a special experience.
“I’m proud to portray the character of this fierce cop once more in Mardaani 3 as a tribute to all the unsung, brave, self-sacrificing cops who work tirelessly every single day to keep us safe.”
Rani mentioned that when they embarked on creating Mardaani 3, she and the team were optimistic about discovering a script that would elevate the viewing experience of a Mardaani franchise film.
She continued, “I am really excited about what we have at hand and I’m only hoping that the audience too feels the same after watching Mardaani 3 in theatres!”
“Mardaani is an extremely beloved franchise and we have a certain responsibility to meet the expectations that people have. We will do our best to live up to this. Mardaani 3 is dark, deadly and brutal,” Rani stated.
She is eager to see how the audience will respond to her film.
“I hope they shower this film with the same amount of love that they have always given.”
The script for Mardaani 3 has been penned by Aayush Gupta of The Railway Men fame. It will be directed by Abhiraj Minawala, who has also received training from YRF.
Minawala has assisted Aditya Chopra on various films such as Band Baaja Baarat, Gunday, Sultan, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, and Tiger 3, among others. He is currently serving as the Associate Director for War 2.
