Los Angeles, Dec 29 (NationPress) Hollywood actor Michael J. Fox has shown his appreciation for Crispin Glover, referring to him as a remarkable actor to collaborate with on Back to the Future—four decades after the film hit theaters.
The 64-year-old actor recently penned a letter to Crispin, 61, praising his extraordinary portrayal of George McFly, the father of Michael's character, Marty McFly. He felt he never had the chance to express this while filming the 1985 sci-fi comedy, according to reports from Female First UK.
This renewed appreciation came as Michael revisited Back to the Future while preparing to write his memoir, Future Boy, which recounts his experiences during the film's production.
In his memoir, Michael shares, "While working on this book, I reached out to Crispin in a letter. 'Your performance grows richer and deeper each time I view it. In fact, I often skip over my scenes just to watch yours. We didn’t converse much during filming, so I never had the opportunity to tell you that you are a brilliant actor, and it was a thrill to work alongside you.'"
In 1984, Michael and Crispin appeared together in an episode of the sitcom Family Ties, titled Birthday Boy, where Crispin played Doug, a friend of Alex P. Keaton (Michael). His delivery earned him the biggest laughs of that episode.
Michael noted, "What’s fascinating about Crispin as an actor is his complete lack of awareness of the audience. He never tried to force the laughter; he was just innately funny, nailing every take. I feel the same way about his performance in Back to the Future.”
Despite the cast featuring seasoned actors like Christopher Lloyd, Michael was unprepared for working with Crispin. Notably, Crispin chose not to return for the sequels, Back to the Future II and Back to the Future III, due to reported creative differences.
