Television host Mini Mathur has opened up about how her victory on Prime Video's debut reality show 'Alliance' left her husband, filmmaker Kabir Khan, more emotionally invested than any project in her career — a reaction that surprised even her. Mathur, who defeated Aly Goni and Ruhee Dosani in the grand finale, said the experience has given her 'a completely new lease on life.'

Kabir Khan's Unexpected Reaction

Mathur revealed that her family had little faith she would cope with the show's demands — no phone, no loved ones, no daily routine. What she returned to, however, was a household gripped by the competition. 'I do not think anyone in my family expected me to survive without my phone, my people, my routine, and everything I hold close,' she said. 'When I came back, I was amazed to see how invested Kabir had become in the show. There were endless family WhatsApp conversations discussing every move made by every contestant.'

She added, 'I honestly do not remember another project in my career where Kabir was this emotionally invested.' The admission is notable given Khan's own high-profile directorial career, which includes films such as 83 and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

How Mathur Played the Game

Mathur attributed her win to a deliberate, low-drama strategy. 'I approached this game in a very different way. I never felt the need to scream, shout, play unnecessary politics, or get involved in everyone's business,' she said. Her self-described biggest strength was her competitive streak in physical arena challenges — the primary reason, she said, she signed up for the show.

'I focused on playing my own game, while handling all the headquarters drama according to my personal moral compass. I never isolated anyone, nor did I unnecessarily get involved in conflicts,' Mathur added. 'Whenever I felt it was important to express my opinion, I did so.'

The Surreal Aftermath

Mathur admitted that the scale of public response caught her off guard. 'Everything still feels surreal. I have only just stepped out of the house, and I had no idea what people outside were saying about me,' she said. She credited the experience with fundamentally shifting her perspective — a sentiment she said is shared by her children and the rest of her family, who she believes are 'extremely proud.'
