Mumbai, June 30 (NationPress) Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah expressed his unwavering support for Diljit Dosanjh amid the current uproar surrounding his latest film, "Sardaar Ji 3".
In a statement on his Facebook page, Shah conveyed his solidarity with Diljit, clarifying that the actor should not be held accountable for the inclusion of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the film.
Shah remarked, "I STAND FIRMLY WITH DILJIT. The dubious tactics of the Jumla Party have been on the lookout for a reason to attack him. They believe they have found it at last. Diljit is not the one who made the casting decisions; that responsibility lies with the director. However, the director remains anonymous, while Diljit is a globally recognized figure, and he accepted the role because he is not influenced by negativity."
He continued, stating that he has several close relatives and friends in Pakistan, emphasizing that no one can prevent him from connecting with them. "What these thugs aim to achieve is to sever personal ties between the people of India and Pakistan. I have cherished family and friends there, and no one can stop me from reaching out to them or expressing my affection whenever I choose. My reply to those suggesting I should 'Go to Pakistan' is 'GO TO KAILASA,'" he concluded.
The Punjabi singer and actor has faced significant criticism for collaborating with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in "Sardaar Ji 3", especially amidst the heightened tensions following the Pahalgam attack.
Previously, Diljit’s 'Chamkila' director, Imtiaz Ali, also voiced his support, asserting that Diljit is not someone who pretends.
"I don't know the specifics, but casting decisions are not solely made by the actor. I am not privy to the details, but I know that he possesses immense love for his country. Those who can perceive the truth will understand," the 'Tamasha' director stated.
