Mumbai, March 28 (NationPress) Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui shared insights into how his formative years as a science student profoundly impacted his acting career.
In his reflections on early theater experiences prior to his rise to fame, Siddiqui emphasized how his dedication to acting—unencumbered by contemporary distractions such as the internet—shaped his artistic abilities. He also credited a Russian theater director, Valentine Tapley, whose method acting techniques were crucial in honing his approach to serious roles. Siddiqui’s reflections provide a window into the foundations of his illustrious film career.
Nawazuddin revealed to IANS, “In my early days, I was both a science student and employed at a chemical factory. It was then that I discovered theater, prompting me to leave my job and pursue acting full-time, starting with Gujarati plays. My initial experiences in theater were rooted in Gujarati productions, where I played minor roles in several major full-length plays. Following advice, I ventured into Hindi theater, training at the National School of Drama in Lucknow and Delhi. Those days are filled with wonderful memories, especially as we had no internet distractions, allowing us to practice during our leisure time.”
“I recall that everyone involved in theater focused solely on their craft, rather than being preoccupied with their phones, a scenario quite rare today. I am grateful to have experienced an era devoid of the internet and its distractions. There were so many cherished moments. I performed a lot of comedy in plays, and during my third year, a renowned Russian theater director named Balentine Taplico came, casting actors merely by looking into their eyes,” he continued.
Siddiqui further stated, “It was during that time that I landed my first serious role, which was quite challenging. This was my debut in a serious play, portraying a complex character. It was likely then that I began to receive valuable acting insights, thanks to this remarkable director who introduced us to method acting techniques.”
On the professional front, Nawazuddin is preparing for the release of his upcoming film “Raat Akeli Hai 2.” This sequel to the 2020 thriller marks Siddiqui's second collaboration with director Honey Trehan.
Additionally, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is busy with “Costao,” a film inspired by the life of customs officer Costao Fernandez. He is also set to lead the Indian adaptation of the acclaimed American medical drama “House” on JioHotstar.
