Mumbai, June 13 (NationPress) Renowned actress Neena Gupta has shared insights into her character Manju Devi’s development in "Panchayat". She expressed her satisfaction in portraying that if women aspire to step up and lead, they truly can.
Neena elaborated: "My journey with Panchayat took off in Season 1, particularly during the flag hoisting scene— that marked a pivotal moment for Manju Devi. In numerous villages, women often accept their lack of knowledge or skills, but what I cherished about my role was her decision to defy that norm."
"She gradually evolved to be more assertive, inquisitive, and ultimately more self-sufficient. Such transformation is not instantaneous— it’s a gradual journey in reality."
She pointed out that the notion of Pradhanpati still prevails in various regions of the nation.
Neena stated: "Through this show, I’m thrilled that we could depict that if women wish to take charge and lead, they certainly can."
Sunita Rajwar, portraying Kranti Dev, mentioned that bringing this character to life has been an intriguing experience.
"What attracted me to her role was her ability to stand strong not just beside her husband but as an equal. She’s not merely a village housewife— she thinks and reacts like any empowered woman would, irrespective of her background."
That strength and equality in her relationship truly resonated with Sunita.
"I’ve genuinely enjoyed embodying this aspect of her. When you connect with a character like this, you start to see reflections of them in your own life. Ultimately, we’re all human— we all harbor a touch of innocence within us."
She continued: "It’s not only the audience who finds a connection with the character; the actor does as well. I feel truly fulfilled and thankful to play her."
