Mumbai, June 16 (NationPress) Actress Neena Gupta, who is eagerly anticipating the release of her new film 'Metro... In Dino', has disclosed that a significant part of her role was omitted from the beloved classic 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro'.
In a conversation with IANS prior to the premiere of 'Metro... In Dino', she revealed that she had a subplot featuring actor Ravi Baswani. However, she mentioned to IANS that her entire storyline with Ravi was ultimately cut from the film.
Neena shared, "I had a subplot with Ravi Baswani. It was removed from the final product. In fact, it got eliminated even during rehearsal. It was a pivotal track. The film was considerably lengthy on paper. We would rehearse and read the script. They deemed it too long, which led to the makers deciding to cut our segment."
She also pointed out that she has reviewed the script for the sequel, which was again quite lengthy. Nevertheless, the project has been shelved, and she feels it is for the best.
"I have read the script of 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro 2'. It was another lengthy script. I was almost cast in Bhakti's role. The producer reached out to me, though I can't recall his name. I’m not sure what transpired, but it got shelved. I believe it's fortunate that it didn't materialize. Some classics should remain untouched," she added.
Previously, Neena recounted an incident where she was set to film her shot but was asked to return to her van.
She described director Anurag Basu as highly instinctive and insightful, brimming with creative ideas right up to the moment of filming.
Neena commended Anurag, stating that the entire script exists in his mind, and the best part of collaborating with him is his ability to improvise on the fly.
