Mumbai, March 27 (NationPress) Playback singer Neha Kakkar, who encountered significant backlash for her late arrival at the Melbourne concert, has now released a statement detailing the events leading up to her performance and the reasons for her tardiness and early departure.
On Thursday, the singer took to Instagram to share an extensive note explaining how both she and the sponsors were misled by the event organisers, and despite being ignored by them, she proceeded with her performance.
She expressed, “They claimed I arrived 3 hours late; did they even ask what happened to me or my band? When I spoke on stage, I refrained from sharing the incident to avoid causing harm to anyone, but now that my name is involved, I feel compelled to clarify. Do you know that I performed absolutely free for my Melbourne audience? The organisers absconded with my payment and others' as well.”
The singer revealed that her band was deprived of food, accommodation, and even water, with her husband and his friends stepping in to provide sustenance.
She stated, “Despite all this, we still took the stage without any rest because my fans were waiting for hours. Our sound check was delayed for hours because the sound vendor was unpaid and refused to set up the equipment. Even when the sound check finally began, I couldn’t reach the venue in time to conduct it, and we were uncertain if the concert would happen since the organisers stopped responding to my manager's calls.”
Neha noted that the organisers ceased communication with her; they seemingly vanished from both the sponsors and everyone involved. She mentioned that while there’s more to discuss, she felt this was sufficient.
She also conveyed her appreciation to those on social media who defended her and clarified the situation.
She wrote, “I want to thank everyone who spoke for me, as if this ordeal affected them personally. I truly appreciate all the efforts made to clarify my stance. I will always be grateful to those who attended my concert that day, shared tears with me, and danced their hearts out.”
“I cannot thank my NeHearts (her fans) enough for their unwavering support and the love they have shown,” she added.
