Mumbai, Dec 17 (NationPress) – Director Tom Gormican and Co-Writer Kevin Etten have discussed their vision for the latest edition of the Anaconda franchise, expressing that they didn’t believe they were suited for a conventional remake of the film.
In their conversation about the filming journey, Gormican and Etten offered insights into their creative approach to revamping the 1997 cult classic Anaconda.
Etten recalled, “Tom and I felt we weren’t the right people to execute a traditional update of Anaconda. However, upon further reflection, we recognized a chance to inject some humor into it.”
“We identified the opportunity to generate significant laughs while also delivering moments of terror, grounding the characters in a way that makes the audience root for their success. Our goal was to provide viewers with an entertaining experience that kept them engaged throughout.”
The unforgiving backdrop of the Amazon serves as a perfect canvas for comedy.
Gormican elaborated: “Reaching a tone that fulfilled our cravings for each genre we aimed to blend was a lengthy process. Yet, we continually leaned on talented actors to help us navigate those challenges.”
“If the characters treated the situation with seriousness, it would elevate the stakes while making their lack of preparedness for the jungle humorous.”
Sony Pictures Entertainment India is set to release Anaconda in India on December 25 in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
Anaconda first hit theaters in 1997. This action-adventure horror film was directed by Luis Llosa and penned by Chris Broodryk. It features a star-studded cast including Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Jon Voight, Eric Stoltz, Jonathan Hyde, and Owen Wilson.

The forthcoming film, marking the sixth installment in the Anaconda series, includes actors such as Paul Rudd, Jack Black, Steve Zahn, Thandiwe Newton, Daniela Melchior, and Selton Mello.
