Mumbai, Feb 25 (NationPress) Actress Nikita Dutta, celebrated for her roles in ‘Gold’, ‘Kabir Singh’, and ‘Khakee: The Bihar Chapter’, is set to showcase a de-glam appearance in the forthcoming streaming series, ‘The Waking of a Nation’.

In this project, the actress takes on the persona of a courageous freedom fighter pivotal to India's quest for independence. By adopting a de-glam look, Nikita dons traditional garb throughout the series.

Discussing her character and de-glam appearance, Nikita remarked, “This series has provided a distinct experience for me, particularly in how it tested my vanity. For the first time, I didn't have to be concerned about appearing polished—no manicures, no makeup, and no touch-ups were needed. The narrative is set in the early 1900s, which meant my look was authentic, without any highlights or extensions.”

She added, “I relished the freedom that came with discarding these typical expectations. It was a significant challenge, and the absence of makeup or vanity granted me immense freedom as an actress. There was no anxiety about ruining anything on screen, which allowed me to fully engage in the process.”

Nikita stated that her role in the series has been the most challenging one to date. She commented, “The topic, which centers around the events before and after Jallianwala Bagh, is profound and intricately linked to our freedom struggle. Exploring that era and comprehending the struggles of the people was a demanding yet fulfilling endeavor. Through my preparation, I gained far more historical knowledge than I initially possessed. It was enlightening, and I eagerly anticipate the audience's response.”

In addition, the actress will appear alongside Saif Ali Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat in 'Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins', which is set to premiere on Netflix soon.
