The teaser for the upcoming Telugu comedy Oh Sukumari!, directed by debutant Bharat Dharshan and starring Aishwarya Rajesh and Thiruveer in the lead roles, dropped on 13 June to an enthusiastic response from fans. Produced by Maheswara Reddy Mooli under the banner of Gangaa Entertainments, the film promises a high-voltage comic entertainer with a quirky romantic premise.

What the Teaser Reveals

The teaser opens with a carefree young man (Thiruveer) laying out his ideal bride — soft, sensitive, and someone who gives him 'goosebumps' at first sight. His family obliges, finding a woman (Aishwarya Rajesh) who appears to fit every criterion. The wedding takes place without a hitch — until it does. When the groom's arm inadvertently brushes against the bride's shoulder on their wedding day, he receives a mild electric shock, hinting at a secret her family has deliberately kept under wraps. The teaser sets up a fizzing comic mystery around this unusual trait.

The Cast and Their Track Records

Thiruveer, best known for his performance in the superhit The Great Pre Wedding Show, brings his reputation for content-driven choices to this role. He has previously impressed critics with the acclaimed horror-drama Masooda, demonstrating range across genres. Aishwarya Rajesh, a well-established name in South Indian cinema, was recently seen in the blockbuster Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, which released last year and performed strongly at the box office.

The Creative Team Behind the Film

The technical lineup is notably experienced. Cinematographer CH Kushendar, known for his work on Razakar and Polimera, is behind the lens. Music is being composed by Bharath Manchiraju, an associate of celebrated composer MM Keeravani. The art department is led by Thirumala M. Thirupathi of Balagam fame, while Sree Varaprasad of Ka handles editing. Costumes have been designed by Aanu Reddy Akkati, who is simultaneously working on the historical epic Swayambhu. Popular lyricist Purnachary has written the songs.

Production Background

The film, initially referred to internally as Production Number 2, marks Bharat Dharshan's directorial debut, with the story penned by him as well. Its grand launch ceremony was held in Hyderabad last year. Regular shooting reportedly commenced from 19 November last year, and dubbing has already begun. This is Gangaa Entertainments' second production, following Shivam Bhaje, which earned critical acclaim.

Release and Languages

According to the makers, Oh Sukumari! will release in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, targeting a pan-South India audience. A release date has not yet been announced, though the teaser signals that a theatrical date is imminent.
