Key Takeaways
Chennai, Feb 26 (NationPress) Filmmaker RJ Balaji has unveiled a captivating trailer for the forthcoming romantic crime thriller 'Oh Butterfly', directed by Vijay Ranganathan, and starring Nivedhithaa Sathish in a key role.
On his X account, RJ Balaji shared, "The past doesn't vanish; it merely waits for the lights to dim. Excited to present the trailer of #OhButterfly. Best wishes to the entire team. #OhButterflyFromMar6."
The movie, produced by Vennky, Anand S Shah, Vijay Ranganathan, and Nisha Patial, also showcases a talented ensemble cast, including Ciby, Nasser, Lakshmipriyaa Chandramouli, Geetha Kailasam, and Attul in significant roles.
The trailer opens with a couple arriving at a hill station for what seems to be a long-awaited honeymoon. The husband appears thrilled about this getaway, but Gouri (played by Nivedhithaa Sathish) seems far from pleased, showing reluctance towards both the honeymoon and their marriage. Her unwillingness to engage intimately frustrates her husband. We soon discover he has recently lost his job, adding to his distress.
Under these circumstances, Gouri's husband introduces her to Suri, a college friend. The trailer suggests that Suri may be Gouri's ex-boyfriend, leading to a complex emotional dynamic. As tensions rise, the trailer culminates with Gouri declaring, "To the police, my parents, and everyone else, this may seem like an accident. But I was the one who killed him."
Nasser is portrayed as a Lepidopterist (a butterfly collector) who admires them as God's angels due to their ability to fly. Through this character, the director aims to convey the importance of cherishing the present instead of worrying about the future. When asked about the short lifespan of butterflies, Nasser's character responds, "What truly matters is the happiness we experience in those 15 days."
On the technical side, the film features music by the talented Vaisakh Somanath and cinematography by Vedaraman Sankaran. The editing is done by Bhuvanesh Manivannan, with lyrics contributed by Karthik Netha, Vijay Ranganathan, and Vignesh Srikanth. The costume design is by Tina Rosario, and the screenplay was co-written by Harish Rajagopal alongside director Vijay Ranganathan.
