In an interview with IANS, she elaborated on her journey to bring this iconic persona to the screen. Kolhapure discussed the extensive research and mental preparation required to portray a historical figure from such a significant era. She expressed her admiration for Prithviraj Chauhan’s complex character—not only as a fierce warrior but also as a learned scholar and arts patron. The seasoned actress reflected on the challenge of encapsulating the elegance and poise of a queen while navigating a family saga interwoven with grand historical events.

Kolahpure also emphasized the production's grandeur, pointing out that the elaborate sets, costumes, and a large cast enriched the storytelling experience on such a magnificent scale. When recalling her initial reaction to being cast in the role, she mentioned her excitement due to the character's elegance and depth. “Upon receiving the role of Rajmata, I was thrilled. The costumes and the grace of that era captivated me. Recreating that period poses challenges, but it's creatively fulfilling,” she remarked.

The actress further conveyed her fascination with the legendary Prithviraj Chauhan, expressing a desire to learn more about his extraordinary life during filming. “What an incredible warrior he was! But he wasn't only celebrated for his bravery—he was educated in literature, painting, and medicine and proficient in several languages. Imagine what kind of king he must have been!”

Before commencing the look test for her character, she dedicated time to researching Prithviraj Chauhan’s life and the legacy of those surrounding him—especially his parents. “Mentally preparing for this was quite challenging,” she stated, reflecting on the extensive preparation necessary to authentically portray a role deeply rooted in history.

Comparing her experience on this grand historical show to her past projects, she noted the vast scale of the production. “This is a monumental saga that requires a lot—horses, soldiers, intricate sets, and a vast crew. It creates a world of its own,” she said. “In contrast, ‘Ekk Nayi Pehchaan’ was more intimate, filmed within the confines of a home. While both are family dramas, this is vastly larger, unfolding in numerous intricate ways.”

After an 11-year break from television, Padmini Kolhapure is making a highly anticipated return in the grand historical drama “Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan,” where she will portray the regal and commanding Rajmata. The show is set to debut on June 4th on Sony Entertainment Television.
