Mumbai, Nov 2 (NationPress) Renowned actor Pankaj Tripathi is grieving the loss of his mother, Hemwanti Devi, who has departed for her eternal rest in the actor's native village of Belsand, located in the Gopalganj district of Bihar.
In a heartfelt announcement, the actor's team conveyed the family's sorrow to the media regarding this profound loss. Her cremation was held on Saturday in Belsand, attended by close family, friends, and relatives.
They stated, “It is with deep sadness that we announce the demise of Shri Pankaj Tripathi’s cherished mother, Hemwanti Devi, who peacefully departed this world at her family’s residence in Belsand, Gopalganj, Bihar, on Friday.”
“She was 89 years old and had been in declining health for a while. She passed away quietly in her sleep, surrounded by her loved ones. Pankaj Tripathi was with her during her final moments. The Tripathi family is experiencing tremendous grief and kindly requests everyone to keep Smt. Hemwanti Devi in their thoughts and prayers. They also ask the media and supporters to respect their privacy during this time of mourning and allow them space to grieve,” they further added.
Previously, the actor's father, Pandit Banaras Tiwari, passed away on August 21, 2023, in their ancestral village. At that time, Pankaj Tripathi was in Mumbai promoting ‘OMG 2’ and promptly returned to Bihar for the final rites.
The actor initially assisted his father, who was a priest and farmer, before uncovering his passion for acting in college theater in Patna. A graduate of the National School of Drama (NSD), Tripathi moved to Mumbai, where he spent years in minor roles before making a name for himself in ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ directed by Anurag Kashyap.
