Mumbai, July 23 (NationPress) Actress Payal Ghosh has weighed in on the ongoing debate between South Indian cinema and Bollywood, asserting that the South boasts greater clarity and professionalism.
When asked to compare the working environments of these two film industries, Payal expressed, "Having worked in both sectors, I am extremely thankful for the opportunities I've received from each."
She noted that she finds the South Indian film industry to be more refined and professional. "They have a clearer vision of their objectives compared to many in Bollywood. What stands out is the respect shown to everyone involved in a film project in the South. Whether you are the lead actor or part of the crew, all contribute equally to the success of the project. If the crew is scheduled to arrive at 7 AM, the lead actors are also present at that time."
She further explained that while South Indian sets are characterized by discipline, Bollywood tends to adopt a more spontaneous approach.
"Conversely, Bollywood is often about going with the flow. I've often seen discrepancies between what is promised and what actually transpires. For instance, if they say shooting will begin after 7 AM, it’s common for things to kick off closer to 11 AM."
Elaborating on the differences, Payal mentioned, "The vision and clarity in the South is superior. They adhere strictly to their storyboards throughout the production and post-production phases. In Bollywood, frequently, planned actions diverge from execution. Many shots are filmed and later discarded, with the intention of figuring things out during editing."
In conclusion, she acknowledged that both Bollywood and the South Indian film industry possess their unique strengths and weaknesses.
"We should celebrate both industries, as they significantly contribute to the magic of the Indian film landscape," Payal concluded.
