Mumbai, Jan 14 (NationPress) Actress Pratibha Ranta, recognized for her role in ‘Laapataa Ladies’, is enjoying the festivities of Makar Sankranti with her grandparents.

The actress, originally from Shimla, shared her plans for the day in an interview with IANS. She explained, “Makar Sankranti has always been a significant festival in my family, marking the beginning of the New Year in the Hindu calendar. We conduct pooja at home, with my grandmother overseeing the rituals. However, after moving to Bombay, I missed that aspect of the celebration. I used to visit friends from college, fly kites, and enjoy the day with them. Now, with my grandparents staying with me during the winter months, I am fortunate to celebrate Makar Sankranti with them.”

She added, “In Shimla, flying kites is a bit challenging, so we haven’t done it there. But here in Bombay, my grandparents also love kite flying. Watching them hold hands and fly kites is truly heartwarming. Celebrating festivals with family brings a special happiness.”

When asked about her favorite festival treats, she mentioned, “I relish Kheer during Makar Sankranti and usually, we conduct a havan at home.”

In other news, 'Laapataa Ladies', which was nominated as India’s official entry for the forthcoming Oscars, unfortunately did not make it to the shortlist.
