Chennai, Aug 14 (NationPress) According to industry insiders, actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, who stars in director Vysakh's highly anticipated revenge thriller 'Khalifa', has wrapped up filming for his segments in the UK schedule. He is expected to head back to India soon.
Reports suggest that the rest of the film crew will return by August 16. Notably, a significant action sequence was filmed at various locations across the UK during this segment.
It's worth noting that director Vysakh announced in July that filming would commence on August 6 in the UK.
In a post on his Instagram, Vysakh expressed his excitement, stating, "The journey of #Khalifa officially begins! Our pooja ceremony for this ambitious film, featuring the incredible @therealprithvi, took place today. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Prithviraj after 15 long years!"
He added, "We are gearing up for an exhilarating journey, with our first schedule starting in London on August 6th. This project assembles a powerhouse team - written by Jinu Abraham, with visual effects by Jomon T John, music by sensation Jakes Bejoy, edits by Chaman Chacko, styling by Mashar Hamza, and action direction by Yannick Ben. We seek your blessings and good wishes for this venture."
In an Instagram post, Prithviraj hinted at his character's name, stating, "Aamir Ali will see you soon! #KHALIFA @directorvysakh @jiinuinnovation @suraj_k16 @jomontjohn @jakes_bejoy @chaman.chakko @yannickben @masharhamsa @shajie__naduvil @sonymusic_south," suggesting he portrays a character named Aamir Ali.
The film was initially announced in 2022 but officially began filming only in 2025. Originally, it was slated to be shot in Dubai, Nepal, and Kerala, but the location has shifted to the UK.
Interestingly, when first announced in 2022, the film carried the tagline, 'Vengeance will be written in gold'.
This marks Prithviraj's second collaboration with Vysakh in over 15 years following their successful project 'Pokkiri Raja', and this will also be his next film with writer Jinu V Abraham, who penned 'Kaduva'.
