Mumbai, Sep 14 (NationPress) Rachana Mistry has shared how Rani Mukerji’s compelling performance in the “Mardaani” films profoundly influenced her own journey in portraying a strong and responsible character on television.
The actress expressed that witnessing Rani in her police uniform left a deep mark on her, instilling a belief in the authenticity and strength of such roles. Discussing her experience of embodying such a character, Rachana Mistry mentioned that it empowers her and brings a significant sense of duty. She remarked that the uniform alone boosts her confidence, making her feel taller and more formidable the moment she dons it.
She conveyed to IANS, “It feels incredibly rewarding and empowering. Alongside that, there’s a substantial sense of responsibility, ensuring that nothing goes awry. At times it can be challenging – for example, if the cap isn’t positioned correctly, or during action scenes where we must be cautious about the uniform’s condition. Nevertheless, the uniform itself imparts a distinct responsibility. Even at my height of five feet two inches, when I wear it, I feel like I’m six feet tall, as if everything around me has diminished. That’s the kind of power it provides.”
When asked about her exposure to similar portrayals on television, Rachana Mistry acknowledged that such strong characters are quite uncommon. “Honestly, very few. Previously, I portrayed an IPS officer in Dabangi. Towards the conclusion of the series, I stepped in as an IPS officer. However, apart from that, such roles are rarely seen on television. I was truly captivated by Rani Mukerji’s performances in both Mardaani films. I absolutely admire her in uniform – her presence, her energy, and the way she embodies the role of a police officer.”
Highlighting what resonates with her about Rani Mukerji’s performance, she noted, “The way she communicates, the manner in which she navigates situations – it convinces you that a police officer would genuinely behave that way. Her portrayal feels incredibly authentic and motivating.”
Currently, Rachana Mistry is in the spotlight as the lead in the show Jagriti: Ek Nayi Subah, which has recently celebrated the milestone of 300 episodes.
