Daniel Radcliffe Prefers His Son to Avoid Acting Career
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Los Angeles, March 7 (NationPress) Actor Daniel Radcliffe has expressed his concerns about his son pursuing a career in acting. Despite his own experience as a child star, he believes it would be best if his son chose a different path.
The 36-year-old actor was only 11 when he auditioned for the iconic role of ‘Harry Potter’, which led to his worldwide fame, as reported by ‘Female First UK’.
Radcliffe, who has a two-year-old son with his partner Erin Darke, thinks that not following in their footsteps would be beneficial for his son’s self-esteem.
During an appearance on The View, when asked if he would want his son to become an actor, Daniel stated, "I would prefer he doesn't. Erin and I are both in the acting profession, so he will observe our passion and love for our work. However, I feel much of an actor's self-worth is intricately linked to their profession. I would love for him to find a career where his sense of identity and self-esteem are not so closely tied to that.”
As reported by ‘Female First UK’, Daniel felt embarrassed when a clip of his early audition for Harry Potter was shown during the talk show segment promoting his latest project, ‘The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins’.
Co-host Sunny Hostin remarked, "Before long, (your son will) recognize that his father is Harry Potter, given that it’s been 25 years since you first starred in the movie. You were just 11 when you auditioned! Of course, since this is The View, we have a clip.”
As the clip played, Daniel was visibly uncomfortable, shaking his head and mouthing, "It's bad.”
After the footage concluded, the audience clapped, and Sunny complimented, "That was wonderful!" Daniel responded, "I disagree, but thank you. I can now see it as cute.”
