Chennai, Aug 20 (NationPress) Actors Raghava Lawrence and KPY Bala, both recognized for their charitable contributions, have recently collaborated to build restrooms at a government school, offering critical support to students who previously lacked adequate facilities.
Raghava Lawrence shared a video on his X account showcasing the newly built restroom, expressing his happiness over the improvements for the students. However, he also mentioned his disappointment regarding the facility's opening, stating, "I will elaborate on this in an upcoming video. #Serviceisgod"
He revealed that he learned about the school's dire situation from KPY Bala, who highlighted the lack of toilet facilities for the children. Although Bala initially sought Rs Two lakhs in support, upon discovering that the children were suffering from various infections due to inadequate sanitation, Lawrence decided to contribute Rs 15 lakhs to construct proper restroom facilities.
"Thanks to my donation, KPY Bala, along with the help of former students, was able to establish these essential facilities. I’m grateful to Bala and all the alumni for their support," expressed Raghava Lawrence.
This is not the first time Lawrence has extended his generosity. Recently, he aided a man forced to pawn his deceased wife's mangalsutra to fund his daughter's education.
Known for his commitment to assisting the impoverished through his initiative Maatram, the actor shared his experience of retrieving the gold mangalsutra that a distressed father had pledged to cover his daughter’s college fees.
In his post, he wrote, "I encountered a story about a father who had to pawn his late wife’s thali for his daughter’s education. This resonated with me deeply, as my own family faced similar hardships. Through Maatram, I managed to reclaim the thali and return it to him. It represents not just gold, but a cherished memory of his beloved wife. Today, my heart is truly full. #Maatram #serviceisgod"
Last year, Lawrence purchased 10 tractors and distributed them to impoverished villages statewide to support struggling farmers.
