Mumbai, June 27 (NationPress) Actor Raghuvir Yadav, who portrays Brij Bhushan Dubey in “Panchayat”, has unraveled the key to the show's immense popularity. He believes it represents India in its purest form, illustrating the heartfelt everyday experiences of small towns.
Raghuvir shared, “It’s astonishing how Panchayat has connected with everyone — from children to senior citizens — across villages, urban areas, and even internationally. While in Australia for a play, I encountered individuals of all ages eager to discuss the series.”
“Initially, I struggled to pinpoint what made it so unique. However, I soon realized — this is India, in its most authentic sense.”
He emphasized that it is the “simplicity, authenticity, and heartfelt narratives from small towns that lend Panchayat its strength.”
Raghuvir remarked, “There are no antagonists, no exaggerated drama. Just genuine individuals leading their lives in honest ways. The affection for the show is palpable… when the release date shifted from July 2 to the 24th, viewers were anxious, expressing, ‘Thank goodness the wait was shortened; even a few days felt too long!’”
The actor noted that upon reading the script, he thought, ‘There’s no space for acting here. We must genuinely live with these characters.’
“These aren’t mere roles; they represent real lives. To authentically portray them, we had to fully immerse ourselves. The writing was profoundly honest — the emotions between the lines were richer than what was written. Having grown up in a village, I interacted with people like the Sarpanch and Panchayat members.”
“Through theatre, I’ve spent years traveling through small towns in Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, observing and engaging with individuals like this. That instinct to observe has consistently influenced my craft as an actor. Thus, when Panchayat came to me, it felt personal. We all approached it with sincerity, and the adoration it’s receiving today is a testament to that,” Raghuvir concluded.
