Mumbai, May 13 (NationPress) Riding high on the success of Netflix's Black Warrant, actor Rahul Bhat is gearing up for his third visit to the Cannes Film Festival with his Hollywood debut titled Lost & Found in Kumbh.
Reflecting on his journey, Bhat shared, “It’s refreshing to be offered a dramedy for a change. I’ve typically been cast in darker, more serious roles. This time, I wanted to explore something different, particularly in English. Although we filmed during the tail end of the Kumbh, the atmosphere was still intense—extremely hot and crowded. It was challenging yet captivating. This film isn’t meant to be overly serious; it’s a delightful, engaging experience. You might even label it a children’s film in certain aspects.”
“As actors, we can sometimes forget the reality of our surroundings. When deeply involved in a role, it can feel like just another set. But this was different; it was the Kumbh Mela. It was genuine. After years of hard work, I’m finally experiencing success. My films have often received critical acclaim, but hearing the term ‘hit’ is a new and exhilarating feeling,” he expressed.
Lost & Found in Kumbh is a touching dramedy directed by newcomer Mayur Puri and produced by Mulberry Films based in Los Angeles. The film revolves around a philosophy professor from London who travels to India’s Kumbh Mela with his British wife and son. Unexpectedly, they encounter his Indian ex-wife and their child at his family home, while his father is missing. As the family searches for him, the two half-brothers become lost in the vast crowd of the sacred festival.
The drama was filmed on location during the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.
Bhat's prior appearances at the festival include Anurag Kashyap’s Ugly (Directors’ Fortnight, 2013) and Kennedy (Midnight Screening, 2023).
Looking ahead, Bhat is set to depict politician Sanjay Gandhi in Sudhir Mishra’s Summer of 77.
