He disclosed that he completed filming the project before suffering a stroke that resulted in a loss of speech.
Rahul took to Instagram to unveil a poster of the film, expressing that he dedicated six months of his life to this project.
He wrote: “I shot Agra before my stroke, before I lost my speech — “Six months of my life I lived this film.. Method acting beyond comfort with every ounce of passion and truth I had.”
“Sometimes effort is unseen. When mood outweighs merit, but art remains eternal. Agra releases in Pan India on November 14th. It carries a part of my soul. See you in the theaters,” he added.
Agra is a drama film co-written and directed by Kanu Behl. It stars debutant Mohit Agarwal, Priyanka Bose, Ruhani Sharma, Vibha Chibber, Sonal Jha, and Aanchal Goswami in significant roles.
The storyline revolves around Guru, a young single call center worker who still resides with his parents. Overwhelmed by frustration, he spirals into a state of near insanity, navigating between futile fantasies, dating apps, and desperate self-harm.
In 2020, while filming in Kargil, Rahul experienced a brain stroke that led to aphasia, impacting his speech. He was subsequently hospitalized in Mumbai. Following the stroke, he incurred substantial medical expenses, which were reportedly covered by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
Rahul began his acting journey with the 1990 hit Aashiqui, produced by Mahesh Bhatt, as the lead actor alongside newcomer Anu Aggarwal. He later starred opposite Karishma Kapoor in Sapne Sajan Ke.
He delivered a memorable performance in Mahesh Bhatt's 1993 semi-autobiographical film Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee. He continued his journey in Mahesh’s Jaanam, which was the directorial debut of Vikram Bhatt. In 2006, Roy participated in and won the inaugural season of the game show Bigg Boss – the Indian counterpart of Celebrity Big Brother.
