Mumbai, May 6 (NationPress) Singer Rahul Vaidya ignited considerable controversy after labeling former Team India captain Virat Kohli a 'Joker'. The 'Bigg Boss 14' participant has now directed his ire towards the cricketer's fans, who have reportedly hurled abuse at him and his family.
Vaidya expressed his thoughts on Instagram Stories, stating, 'Virat Kohli's fans are even bigger jokers than Virat!'
In a subsequent post, he disclosed that Kohli's supporters were not only targeting him but also his wife and sister. His Instagram story read, 'And now you're abusing me, that's fine, but you're abusing my wife and sister, who have nothing to do with this! So I was right; that's why you all, Virat Kohli fans, are jokers! 2 kaudi ke jokers (sic).'
Vaidya also shared a video on social media, where he was seen performing B Praak’s song 'Joker', accompanied by the caption, 'My favorite song since yesterday.'
This saga began when Kohli's Instagram account liked a post featuring influencer and actress Avneet Kaur.
As the situation escalated online, Kohli issued a public statement, attributing the incident to Instagram's algorithm.
'While clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made,' the cricketer stated.
Mocking Kohli's explanation, Vaidya commented, 'From today onwards, it could happen that the algorithm likes many photos that I haven't liked. So whoever the girl is, please don't do PR around it because it is not my mistake. It is Instagram's mistake, okay?'
The singer further asserted that Kohli had blocked him. Jokingly, he added that he might have been blocked by Instagram instead.
'Virat didn’t block me; Instagram’s algorithm must have done it on his behalf,' Vaidya quipped with laughter.
