Chennai, Jan 15 (NationPress) The legendary Superstar Rajinikanth, who warmly greeted his fans outside his home during the joyous festival of Pongal, has announced that filming for his highly-anticipated new project with director Cibi Chakravarthy is set to commence in April this year.

As expected, Rajinikanth interacted with the fans who had gathered to celebrate Pongal with him. The superstar stepped out to wave at his admirers and convey his warm wishes for the festival before addressing the media present.

The actor expressed, "My sweet Pongal wishes to everyone." He emphasized the importance of farmers, stating, "The farmers are the backbone of this country. Only if they are happy will everyone else be happy."

When queried about his forthcoming film with Cibi Chakravarthy, produced by the renowned Raaj Kamal Films International, Rajinikanth confirmed, "Shooting is to begin in April this year. It will be a proper commercial entertainer."

This film has generated immense excitement since Kamal Haasan announced that Raaj Kamal Films International would be behind this project, currently referred to as #Thalaivar173.

It should be noted that initially, one of Tamil cinema's most celebrated directors, Sundar C, was slated to direct the film, which Kamal Haasan had described as a magnum opus. However, to everyone's surprise, Sundar C chose to withdraw from the project.

In a heartfelt message titled "A Heartfelt Note to My Dearest Fans and Well-Wishers," Sundar C stated, "It is with a heavy heart that I share some important news with you. Due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances, I have made the difficult decision to step back from the prestigious project, #Thalaivar173."

He reflected on his long-standing association with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, saying, "I will always hold them in the highest regard. The special moments we have shared over the past few days will be cherished forever by me. They have taught me invaluable lessons, and I will continue to seek their inspiration and wisdom as I move forward."

Though stepping away from this opportunity, Sundar C vowed to continue seeking the expert guidance of both icons of Tamil cinema.

He expressed gratitude, saying, "I thank both of them from the bottom of my heart for considering me for this magnum opus." Addressing his fans, he added, "Please accept my sincere apologies if this news has disappointed those who had eagerly anticipated this venture. I am committed to making it up to you and promise to continue bringing you entertainment that keeps your spirits high. Thank you for your unwavering support and understanding. It means the world to me, and I look forward to creating more memories with you all."

Following Sundar C's exit, the production team announced that Cibi Chakravarthy would be taking over as director. The film, which carries the tagline 'Every family has a hero,' will feature music scored by Anirudh.
