Rajinikanth's Legendary Film 'Baashha' Marks 30 Years; Set for Re-release

Chennai, Jan 13 (NationPress) One of the most celebrated films in Tamil cinema history, 'Baashha', starring superstar Rajinikanth and Nagma in leading roles, is gearing up for a re-release.

Produced by R M Veerappan for Sathya Movies, 'Baashha', which was directed by Suresh Krissna, originally hit theaters in 1995.

In honor of the film reaching its 30th anniversary and to celebrate Sathya Movies' 60th anniversary along with Rajinikanth's 50 years in cinema, the producers have decided to re-release it.

The newly re-released version will feature impressive technical enhancements, including state-of-the-art 4K quality and Dolby Atmos surround sound.

'Baashha' tells the gripping tale of a gangster and has significantly influenced the evolution of commercial action films in Indian cinema. One of the film's most memorable lines, “Naan oru thadava sonna, nooru thadava sonna mathiri” (What I say once is like saying it a 100 times), has become a favorite among fans, frequently quoted and referenced across various platforms. The cast includes not only Rajinikanth and Nagma, but also late actors Raghuvaran, Charanraj, Anandraj, Janagaraj, Vijayakumar, and Yuvarani, among others.

Debuting 30 years ago in 1995, the film was a monumental success, becoming the largest blockbuster of Rajinikanth's illustrious career. It enjoyed an impressive theatrical run of 15 months across India and has been remade in several languages.

This film has made a lasting impact not just on Rajinikanth's fans, but also on the people of Tamil Nadu. It is now undergoing a 4K remaster with Atmos sound technology, making it feel almost like a new release. Thangaraj Veerappan, son of R M Veerappan, will oversee the release on behalf of Sathya Movies. While a specific release date has yet to be finalized, announcements are expected soon.
