Mumbai, Dec 11 (NationPress) Renowned actor Rakesh Bedi has shared insights into the intricate journey of developing his character in Dhurandhar.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, he mentioned that his role is a fusion of several Pakistani political figures, amalgamating their speech styles, behaviors, and character traits to forge a genuine performance on screen. When prompted about the process of shaping a character as eccentric and complex as his role in Dhurandhar, Rakesh detailed his meticulous preparation and keen observation.
He articulated, “The character is based on actual events and is crafted by merging characteristics of multiple Pakistani politicians. I analyzed speeches, tones, diction, and body language of numerous leaders—not just a single one. The overall appearance was created by Aditya along with the prosthetics team. I concentrated on speech patterns, vocal delivery, mannerisms, and subtle details that lend the character authenticity.”
Discussing the challenges associated with this role, Bedi remarked, “The real challenge occurs during the filming process. Maintaining a clear mindset about the character and performing the scenes must never become overwhelming; otherwise, the actor risks losing their comfort. An actor must first be at ease.”
The star of Chashme Buddoor further added, “I look for roles that challenge me. Dhurandhar intrigued me due to its multilayered nature, and delving into those layers was immensely rewarding.”
In Dhurandhar, Rakesh Bedi portrays Jameel Jamali, a cunning and formidable Pakistani politician. Directed by Aditya Dhar, this spy action thriller features stars like Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and Sara Arjun. The film made its theatrical debut on December 5, 2025.
Dhurandhar is reported to be inspired by real-life occurrences, emphasizing geopolitical tensions and covert operations executed by India's R&AW. It particularly focuses on Operation Lyari, a crackdown by the Pakistani government aimed at combating gangs and criminal organizations in Karachi's Lyari region.
