Mumbai, Sep 4 (NationPress) The renowned filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has paid tribute to his dear friend and late actor Rishi Kapoor on the occasion of his 73rd birth anniversary, expressing that his “spirit continues to thrive.”
Rakesh shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, showcasing a nostalgic photograph of himself with his close friends, the legendary Jeetendra and the beloved late star Rishi Kapoor, affectionately known as Chintu.
He captioned the moment: “Chintu your spirit still lives. Happy Birthday!”
The trio collaborated in the film “Aap Ke Deewane”, released in 1980, which Rakesh produced and directed by Surendera Mohan. The film featured Rishi Kapoor, Rakesh Roshan, and Tina Munim, with Jeetendra making a special guest appearance.
As close friends off-screen, Rakesh ensured Jeetendra's presence in the film through a song, even though he did not have a formal role in the narrative.
Interestingly, Rakesh's son Hrithik Roshan, at just six years old during filming, made a brief appearance in the movie as the younger version of his father's character, sharing a tricycle with another child on a beach.
Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with leukemia in 2018 and sought treatment in New York City. After a successful year of treatment, he returned to India but was later hospitalized at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital on April 29, 2020, due to breathing issues. He sadly passed away on April 30, 2020, from a recurrence of leukemia.
Rishi Kapoor married Neetu in 1980, and they had two children: Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor.
In an exciting turn of events, Rakesh recently announced Hrithik's directorial debut with ‘Krrish 4’, passing the torch of a franchise he has carefully developed over the past 22 years.
The upcoming film is a collaboration between Yash Raj Films and Rakesh Roshan. Hrithik Roshan will be taking on dual roles as both director and lead actor, portraying the titular superhero. Filming is expected to commence early next year.
