Los Angeles, Sep 20 (NationPress) Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon has decided to make subtle adjustments in her parenting approach after experiencing significant burnout.
As a mother of two young adults and a preteen, Reese has openly discussed her feelings of exhaustion, as reported by People magazine.
During the September 20 episode of The Interview, the 49-year-old actress and producer acknowledged that after over 25 years of parenting, she feels a bit drained. She shares her two oldest children, daughter Ava Phillippe, 26, and son Deacon Phillippe, 21, with her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, and her youngest, 12-year-old Tennessee James, with ex Jim Toth.
When motherhood was discussed in the podcast episode titled How Reese Witherspoon Figured Out Who She Really Is, host Lulu Garcia-Navarro inquired if she approaches parenting differently this time.
Witherspoon's response was clear: “Oh, for sure. I'm exhausted,” she admitted. “I'm completely drained and tired. Sometimes this exhaustion shows when I redirect Tennessee to his older siblings. Whenever I lose my patience,” she explained, “I tell my youngest, ‘You need to call your brother and sister. They’ve worn me out. I'm so tired. Just eat the cookie. Go to bed late. Think about how it's going to make you feel’. After 25 years of parenting, I’m definitely feeling the strain.”
Later in the episode, Witherspoon mentioned the advice she offers her daughter as she ventures into Hollywood. Ava made her acting debut in Doctor Odyssey earlier this year.
“It’s interesting,” the star of Big Little Lies noted, “because last year, she turned 25, and when I was 25, she was just a year and a half old. I had just done Legally Blonde and was about to start Sweet Home Alabama. We are living such different lives.”
Witherspoon expressed her pride in Ava for being authentic and not trying to mimic her career. “Ava is just cool,” she stated.
