This esteemed global accolade acknowledges higher education institutions that demonstrate an unwavering dedication to promoting peace through education.

The announcement coincided with the United Nations International Day of Peace on September 21, highlighting the vital role of education in creating a more just, inclusive, and sustainable world.

The Global Education for Peace Award recognizes higher education institutions (HEIs) worldwide for their significant contributions to fostering global peace through education. It honors institutions that incorporate global perspectives into their curricula, nurture a sense of global citizenship among students, and promote a culture of dialogue and empathy that transcends borders. This award emphasizes universities' role as havens of intellectual freedom, intercultural understanding, and ethical leadership at a time when the world is grappling with increasing polarization and conflict.

Submissions were assessed by a distinguished international committee based on the scope, reach, and impact of each institution's initiatives in promoting global education and peace. The meticulous selection process took into account the innovative nature of programs, the effectiveness of teaching methods, and the extent of international collaborations and community involvement.

According to Professor John C. Weidman, Emeritus Professor at the University of Pittsburgh and Chair of the Award Selection Committee, JGU's initiatives serve as “a model for how universities globally can embed peace, justice, and sustainability at the core of their educational mission.”

This year, O.P. Jindal Global University shares this esteemed honor with the American University in the Emirates (UAE). Both institutions stand as symbols of hope and inspiration, illustrating the transformative power of universities in promoting global citizenship, intercultural understanding, ethical leadership, and a culture of peace.

The award acknowledges JGU's:
