Mumbai, May 29 (NationPress) Actor Rohit Roy reminisced about a transformative moment prior to his audition for Mahesh Bhatt's celebrated series "Swabhimaan".
In an intimate discussion with Yash Birla during a session called "The Soul Science", Rohit revealed that he lost his father at the age of 14 or 15. Shortly afterward, he traveled to Bombay for his inaugural audition, which was for "Swabhimaan".
He recounted, "I faced rejection after my audition for that show. However, Mahesh Bhatt later came across an NG (no good) take and inquired, ‘Who is this boy? Bring him back.’ I was given another chance, and surprisingly, it was a scene where I spoke to my father's lifeless body. That emotion lingered with me—being so young, it hadn’t faded even after 3-4 years—and it emerged in that scene, unintentionally, since I lacked formal training. When I witnessed that, everything just flowed. It’s all about how you channel your feelings before the camera. Sometimes, you don’t need to switch off your emotions—there are moments when it’s irrelevant to me."
Interestingly, Rohit never aspired to enter the entertainment industry. “I was meant to go to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to pursue my MBA. But my visa was denied. I was heartbroken, yet somehow, I interpreted it as a sign—and chose to remain,” Rohit shared.
In line with the theme of "The Soul Science", the 'Shootout at Lokhandwala' star also discussed how today's youth cope with stress. He asserted, "There’s no benefit in worrying about the future. The Gen Z and Alpha generations often throw around the term anxious. Avoid saying you’re anxious, even casually. You must remain positive, provide positive affirmations, and focus on positive manifestations."
He added, "The more courageous and self-assured you are, the longer that confidence stays with you. I only ask God not to send me shocks in life. I’ll tackle all the minor challenges as they come. I urge everyone: ensure your daughters are raised as warriors, not princesses."
