Did Ryan Reynolds' Team Make History?

Los Angeles, April 27 (NationPress) Hollywood actors Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds showed their affection publicly while marking a significant professional achievement.

The duo was spotted at a Wrexham AFC soccer match in Wales on Saturday, April 26, where they were seen embracing and cheering enthusiastically from the stands, as reported by People magazine.

The match featured Wrexham facing off against Charlton, and Wrexham secured a triumphant victory with a score of 3-0.

According to People, 37-year-old Blake Lively donned a comfy checked long-sleeved shirt, while 48-year-old Reynolds opted for a relaxed white T-shirt paired with a gray button-up shirt.

This win holds particular importance for Reynolds, who, alongside It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-creator Rob McElhenney, bought the team in 2021.

The victory signifies that the once fifth-tier team has now been promoted to the Championship, the second tier of English soccer, bringing them closer to the Premier League, the UK’s most prestigious league.

Although Lively is now equally invested in the team’s success, Reynolds previously shared that his decision to make such an unexpected purchase was not initially well-received by his wife.

In October 2024, Reynolds and McElhenney expanded their business endeavors by acquiring Wrexham Lager Beer Co Ltd., the longest-standing lager brewery in Great Britain.

On his Instagram, Ryan expressed, "We’ve been part of Wrexham for what feels like the blink of an eye, yet so much has transpired. I recall the first press conference when we were asked our goals, and Rob immediately chimed in with, 'The Premier League.' People laughed then, and rightfully so. It seemed outrageous... However, we were serious. I feel at home here, in a place that honors community, decency, and history. From the respect shown for the Gresford Disaster to the hope and miracles embodied by Mickey Thomas, these are pivotal reasons Wrexham is evolving into what it always was. It’s not just a place with a history of highs and lows; it’s also a FEELING. And sometimes a feeling can be as meaningful or even more so than a memory. We have made history. This is our third consecutive promotion."

He further added, "Such achievements are made possible thanks to the wisdom of Phil Parkinson and his coaching staff, along with the talents of players like Paul Mullin. It wouldn’t be possible without Max Cleworth and Arthur Okonkwo, or Mark Howard, who has one of the toughest jobs. I witnessed Sam Smith create a captivating blend of football and martial arts, scoring our second goal yesterday. The stadium feels sacred. I’ve come to know so many of you. Since February 2021, I’ve seen babies grow into regulars and some regulars depart us for eternity."

"We’ve had the privilege of scattering ashes of loved ones across that field. I’ve even seen every available hand shovel snow off the pitch to prevent match cancellations. Someone remarked that the Welsh possess the 'heart of a poet and the fist of a fighter.' That’s what I cherish about this place. I wish the entire world could visit Wrexham," he concluded.

Furthermore, in January 2025, the couple disclosed that they were part of a group of celebrity investors who acquired a stake in La Equidad, a Colombian soccer club.
