Ryan Reynolds Expresses Pride in His Role in the Dynamic Canadian Narrative

Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds, based in Los Angeles, has shared that he feels "proud" to be part of the dynamic Canadian narrative after being honored with the Order of Canada.

The 48-year-old star was among 88 new appointees to the Order of Canada announced on December 19. He remarked that he "couldn’t be more emotional and proud".

"Today I was bestowed with the remarkable honor of being appointed to the Order of Canada. I couldn’t feel more emotional and proud of this achievement. I’m incredibly thankful to be part of the dynamic Canadian narrative," he stated.

A native of Vancouver, Reynolds expressed gratitude to his "third parent," the various communities throughout Canada that have "nurtured and influenced me."

"Additionally, I want to acknowledge everyone across Canada who tirelessly work to assist others daily without the need for recognition or applause," Reynolds added. "I intend to request the Governor General's permission to divide my officer’s medal into countless tiny pieces to share with everyone."

He also expressed thanks to the Canadian government for this distinction via X, previously known as Twitter, vowing to "use my powers for good… and general whimsy," according to reports from people.com.

Apart from his cinematic contributions, the Canadian government acknowledged his advocacy for various Canadian causes, such as Water First Education, Covenant House Vancouver, and the Sick Kids Foundation.

The Order of Canada represents the nation’s highest honor for citizenship, awarded to individuals who make significant contributions to the country.

Previously, Reynolds received the Order of British Columbia and the humanitarian award from the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television last year.

Despite his deep affection for Canada, the current resident of New York City recently shared with The Hollywood Reporter that he has no plans to relocate back. He resides in the Big Apple with his wife, Blake Lively, and their four children: daughters James, Inez, and Betty, along with their 1-year-old son, Olin.

"I’ve always taken pride in being Canadian. I view Canada as one of my parents. It instilled in me core values that have proven invaluable almost every week, if not daily, since I left home at 18 or 19," he concluded.
