Saira Banu: The Timeless Charm of Dilip Kumar in My Life

Mumbai, December 11 (NationPress) On the occasion of Dilip Kumar’s 102nd birthday on Wednesday, the esteemed actress Saira Banu fondly reminisced about her ‘Sahib’. She expressed that whenever the iconic star was near her, he would cast aside his legendary persona and allow the playful child within him to shine, carefree and liberated from life's chaos.

Saira took to Instagram to post a video montage showcasing cherished moments spent with Dilip Kumar, who left this world at the age of 98 in 2021.

In her heartfelt caption, she wrote: “Some individuals enter your life to leave a lasting impact, becoming an integral part of you. That’s precisely what transpired when Dilip Sahib came into my life to remain forever. Our thoughts and essence are intertwined.”

“Though the days may shift and seasons may change, Sahib has always been by my side, hand in hand. On his birthday today, I reflect on the immense gift he has been, not only to me but to everyone fortunate enough to know him.”

She articulated that to the world, Dilip Kumar epitomized grace, dignity, and chivalry, possessing a presence that could silence any gathering.

“However, when he was with me, he transformed entirely. He discarded the legend’s aura and allowed his inner child to emerge, playful and unburdened by the chaos of life. He laughed effortlessly, teased with youthful innocence, and became absorbed in the simplest of moments, as if the outside world had faded away.”

She shared a delightful anecdote about Dilip Kumar.

“One thing I can assert without doubt is that Sahib was never one to remain idle. He had a passion for travel. On his days off from filming, he would often invite us to join him in exploring beautiful locales.”

“My brother Sultan’s children, along with other family members, and I frequently accompanied him on these adventures, forging some of our most treasured memories together.”

Recalling a particular memory, Banu remarked: “His spontaneity continues to amaze me. I vividly recall one instance when I went to the airport merely to see him off as he prepared to depart. He turned to me and asked, ‘Saira, what are you up to?’ I casually replied, ‘My shoot got canceled, so nothing.’

“What unfolded next astonished me—he took me along with him! Back then, flight tickets were purchased directly at the counter. Sahib promptly instructed his secretary to secure a ticket for me, and off we went together.”

“Imagine this: I was dressed in a simple cotton salwar kameez, with no change of clothes or any preparation. Yet, Sahib took me to a grand wedding. I attended the entire event in that simple attire, while Dilip Sahib walked alongside me, hand in hand. His simplicity characterized him, and it was this very quality that allowed him to effortlessly surprise me and draw me into his enchanting world…”
