Mumbai, April 21 (NationPress) Veteran actor Shehzad Khan, renowned for his portrayal of Bhalla in ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, reminisced about the modest shooting conditions of the iconic 1994 film.
Sharing candid behind-the-scenes anecdotes, he noted that superstar actors like Salman Khan and Aamir Khan lacked the comfort of makeup vans during that time—opting instead to prepare for their performances under umbrellas or in cramped makeup rooms.
Reflecting on this, Shehzad told IANS, “The entire shoot remains a cherished memory for me. We didn’t have makeup vans back then. We’d sit under umbrellas or in small makeup rooms, joking around. One unforgettable moment was when we faced a flight delay returning from Ooty to Bombay, getting stuck at Coimbatore airport. We had a blast, laughing uncontrollably. The locals recognized Salman and Aamir—it was a delightful experience.”
Regarding the film’s upcoming re-release, Shehzad expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Yes, Andaaz Apna Apna is making a comeback, and I must say, I’m even more thrilled about this than I was back in 1994 when it first premiered. I genuinely wish today’s youth—the kids and current audiences—get to witness what true, unadulterated comedy is all about.”
When questioned about how he secured his role and the atmosphere on set, Shehzad Khan reminisced that working on 'Andaz Apna Apna' felt more like a picnic than a job. “Aamir, Salman, and I were all around the same age and hailed from similar backgrounds. I had known Salman even before we began our acting careers—my father, Mr. Ajit, was instrumental in bringing his father, Salim Khan, from Indore to Bombay. So, we shared a profound bond,” he revealed.
The Rajkumar Santoshi-directed film originally released in theaters on November 14, 1994. The romantic comedy, scripted by Santoshi and produced by Vinay Kumar Sinha, also featured Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor, Paresh Rawal (in a dual role), and Shakti Kapoor.
“Andaz Apna Apna” is set to grace cinemas once more on April 25, 2025.
On April 1, Vinay Pictures shared the announcement via social media, stating, “Prepare to relive the madness. Andaz Apna Apna is re-releasing in theaters on April 25, 2025. Experience the cult classic on the big screen. Restored & Remastered in 4K & Dolby 5.1. Trailer coming soon.”
